Valuations you
can rely on.
Accredited, impartial appraisals for insurance, estate planning, legal proceedings, financial reporting and tax, delivered with independence, rigour and full documentation.
Impartial Valuations
Independent means no conflicts.
A valuation is only as trustworthy as the appraiser’s independence. Many galleries, dealers, and auction houses offer valuation services, all of which have a financial interest in the outcome. An inflated insurance valuation leads to higher premiums. An estate valuation favouring a seller results in higher sale fees.
Zurani appraisals are independent by design. We have no relationships that create financial incentives to inflate or deflate a valuation. Our only obligation is accuracy.
Insurance Valuations
Protect what your collection is worth.
Art insurance policies are only effective when coverage reflects current market values. Many collectors are significantly underinsured, with works that have appreciated substantially since their last valuation, and policies that will not pay out at replacement cost.
We provide up-to-date market valuations accepted by leading insurers worldwide, with full documentation and condition reports for each piece.
- Current market replacement value assessments
- Comprehensive condition reports per work
- Full photographic documentation and provenance records
- Accepted by all major international art insurers
- Annual review service to maintain current accuracy
Estate Planning & Tax
Art in the estate: handled correctly.
Art within an estate poses unique challenges. Valuations can be complex to determine, markets are illiquid, and tax treatment varies by jurisdiction. We provide valuations for estate planning, inheritance tax, charitable donations, and gift tax, working closely with lawyers, accountants, and estate administrators.
Our valuations are prepared in accordance with relevant regional standards.
Legal Proceedings
Expert evidence that holds up.
Divorce settlements, partnership disputes, bankruptcy proceedings, and insurance claims often require independent expert valuations that withstand legal scrutiny. We provide appraisals and, where necessary, expert witness testimony, delivered with the rigour and documentation that legal processes demand.
Financial Reporting
Compliant valuations for institutional use.
Family offices, trusts, foundations and institutional collectors increasingly require art valuations that meet audit and regulatory standards. We provide valuations prepared in accordance withial reporting standards, including IFRS and loca relevant financl regulations, and supported by comprehensive working documentation.
The Appraisal Process
Thorough, documented, defensible.
Every appraisal follows a consistent, thorough process. Works are examined in person whenever possible, with a full condition assessment. Market research is conducted using auction records, private-sale data, and gallery pricing. Values are supported by comparable evidence and presented in a detailed written report.
- Initial collection review and scope agreement
- Physical examination and condition assessment per work
- Market research across auction, private sale and gallery data
- Comparable sales analysis and value justification
- Written report with full documentation, photos and provenance
- Review and update service at agreed intervals
Accurate, independent valuation is the foundation
of every sound decision.
